We interviewed Jareth Zessinthal; leader of the band and sole surviving member after five years of touring, on the replacement
of several band mates due to fan related deaths.
"Rembrandt was the first, but not nearly the last. Our music has always had an effect on the public, they really
give themselves over to the music. We've been accused of planting subliminal messages in our tunes, filtering drugs through
the ventilation systems of venues, a lot of shit mind you, but the fact remains these people are just doing what comes natural
to them you know? I can't hold it against them for feeling the way they do, I mean, you didn't scold the kids for starting
a mosh-pit during a Rob Zombie concert, I'm certainly not going to hold it against them for loving us to, well, death. Some
people believe music to be their religion or walk of life, to some going to a concert is like a catholic going to mass on
Saturday."
Police reports from the incident showed the concert goers to be "Unresponsive" and "Lost in a Trance".
Though the individuals were incarcerated for the murder of Rembrandt, they were later released on pleas of temporary insanity
but none pointed a finger towards the band or their music.
"I don't think it was the music, I think I just lost my mind for a minute. It really sucks though because LeBrette,
man, he really knew how to wail." One of the attackers commented to us.
